Edo Governorship Election: State Police Commissioner Redeployed As Federal Government Drafts Troops
Some 72 hours before the governorship election in Edo State, armed soldiers have poured into the state on the orders of President Goodluck Jonathan. “Contingents of soldiers are entering Edo as if the state is now a war front,” said one of our sources. The deployment of troops is seen as part of a plot by the Jonathan administration and a PDP chieftain, Tony Anenih, to rig the election in favor of Major General Charles Airhiavbere (ret.), the candidate of the PDP.
