The Nigerian civil war ended in 1970 when Brigadier Alexander Madiebo announced the unconditional surrender of Biafra to the Federal Military Government of Nigeria under General Yakubu Gowon. Nigerians have moved forward since then and the Easterners (ibo) have been integrated to Nigeria. The Ibos continue to live peacefully among the Yorubas in the West in a cordial and peaceful environment.
